lyrics today from Siouxsie and the Banshees [kiss them for me]

The Artist’s Way this week bade me to list five favourite films, so here I go:

  • Harold and Maude
  • Pretty In Pink
  • Fallen Angels [aka Duo luo tian shi]
  • Chungking Express [aka Chung Hing sam lam]
  • Camille Claudel

What common denominators do these films all hold?

  • love
  • loss
  • figuring out one’s place in life

Also, they all have songs in their soundtracks that I feel strongly about. That’s not really a surprise, though!

I used to write songs for The Violet Dawning that I described as songs of love and loss. Coincidence? I think not.

I love Harold and Maude too! I had a friend named Harold who was totally full of life and I was suicidal and at death’s door in my teen years, but when he was murdered, his death actually made me realize there was more to life. He was cremated and was now in a small pastel colored box. I KNEW that the life force inside of him was not in there. It’s a scientific fact that energy can only change forms, it can not be created or destroyed by us humans. I live a good life now in honor of the exuberance for life that he had. I always thought of my life as a backwards Harold and Maude story.
Sorry. Was that tmi? I seem to be all full of stories from my past lately which freak people out. Sorry. Feel free not to post this if you wish, xiane. But, for me, I’m sorry folks, that’s my experiences and my life and I’m just sharing like everyone else does. The stories are a bit different, I’ll admit. LOL I think there is alot more hidden tragedies in people’s lives out there, than get talked about in polite circles anyway. To me that’s the real struggles of life so why do we hide it all away?

Harold and Maude created more goths per capita than any other movie, and I think it’s the best example of goth sensibility out there. GREAT movies!
